Christine Anne Hammond (née Pfaff) went home to be with the Lord on June 18, 2026, in Monroe, Wisconsin. She was born on November 20, 1943, to William and Anne Pfaff in Oak Park, Illinois. She grew up in Forest Park, Illinois, with her parents and her sister, Jeanne. After the early passing of her dear mother, Christine was later blessed when her father married Frances, who became a loving and important presence in her life. She was also blessed with the addition of her younger siblings, Bill and Liz, and shared many special memories with her sisters and brother. Christine was intelligent and deeply curious. She loved to explore, learn new things, and understand how the world worked. She did very well in school and carried that love of learning with her throughout her life. In her junior year of high school, while playing the clarinet in the school band, she met a French horn player who became the love of her life, Richard Hammond. She went on to attend Illinois State University on a full scholarship, where Richard was also attending. Christine married Richard on November 10, 1963, and they started their life together in Normal, Illinois, where they welcomed their first son, Rick. In 1966, they purchased a home in Addison, Illinois, where they would raise their family. Soon after, they welcomed their daughter, Tammie, and later their youngest son, Jamie. Christine was a dedicated homemaker until her children were in the later years of grade school. She then went to work at Stretch & Sew Fabric Store. She was a highly skilled seamstress, and her creations were often featured in local fashion shows. When her children were teenagers, she took accounting classes and spent most of her career working for an engineering firm in Schaumburg, Illinois. In 1996, Christine and Richard moved into their “dream home” in the Lake Summerset community in Davis, Illinois, where she lived until her passing. Christine loved and served her family with all of her heart. She often said over the years, and even in her final days, that she loved to sit and listen to the talking and laughter of those she loved during visits and holidays and held those moments close. She also loved the sky and could often be found searching and watching for the activities of the night sky. She loved her gardens and flowers and spent many wonderful hours wandering through nurseries and botanical gardens. In 2015, she fulfilled a lifelong dream of attending the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. She found great joy in the floral displays and cherished the pictures she took there and added to her large photo collection. Christine was a follower of Jesus Christ and loved many from the churches she attended throughout her adult life, including Addison Presbyterian Church, Addison Bible Church, First Free Church of Rockford, and Faith Community Church, where she attended at the time of her passing. She sang alto in church choirs and immensely enjoyed participating in the musical programs at First Free Church. Christine A. Hammond was deeply loved and will be deeply missed. 1 She was preceded in death by her precious sons, Richard B. Hammond and James W. Hammond; her parents, William O. Pfaff and Anne M. Pfaff; her stepmother, Frances Pfaff; her in-laws, Brownley Hammond, Dorothy Hammond, Edith Ostermann (Harry), Harriet Lake (Bob), and Dorothy Lemm (Bill); and
