In Loving Memory of Gene “Mean Gene” Boeck
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gene “Mean Gene” Boeck on October 29, 2026.
Gene was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, brother, and loyal friend. He shared 54 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Peggy.
Known as “Mean Gene,” he certainly lived up to his nickname. Tough, stubborn, and outspoken, Gene was never shy about telling someone what he thought or what they should be doing. He liked things done his way and had a special talent for bossing everyone around. But beneath that tough exterior was a big, soft heart and a deep love for those closest to him.
Gene worked as a plasterer for over 30 years, taking great pride in his hard work and dedication. The quality of his work was renowned throughout southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois, keeping him busy throughout his career.
Gene enjoyed playing cards, spending time with family, telling jokes, and visiting Center Tavern, where he loved sharing stories and laughter with friends. He was especially proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His beloved dogs, Stoker, Teddy, Buddy, and Minnie, also held a special place in his heart.
Gene is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Boeck; his daughter, Jennifer (Jeremy); his grandchildren, Amanda “Mandy” (Drew), Tori, and Samie (Xania); his great-grandchildren, Landen, Jaxton, and Taylen; his sisters, Marcia, Sandy, Donna, Diane, and Kathy; his brothers, Robert and Daniel; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Toni Ann Boeck; his brothers, Melvin and Ken Boeck; his parents, Delbert and Bonnie Boeck; and his niece, Carrie.
Gene was truly one of a kind. His humor, tough love, and generous heart will never be forgotten. Life will certainly be a little quieter without him telling everyone what to do, but it will never be quite the same.
Rest easy, Mean Gene. You can finally let someone else be the boss although we all know you’ll still be calling the shots from above.
Forever loved, never forgotten.
