Richard A. Bennett Sr. passed away on October 12, 2026 at his home in Brodhead, WI. He was born on May 15, 1954 to parents Edwin and Frances Bennett in California, where he grew up and joined the Airforce in 1972. He moved to WI in 1976 where he met and married Penny Sue Coplien.
The biggest part of his life was spending time with his children and grandchildren which he loved to do. He also enjoyed watching movies and taking rides on his Harley. He was a dedicated members of the Brodhead Police Dept. from 1983 to 2007. After retiring he worked as a SSM Security Officer from 2008-2018 and then became the Brodhead Municipal Court Judge from 2018 to current.
He is survived by his daughter Mary (Jason) Elsner of Brodhead; son Richard (Miranda Parker) Bennett Jr.; grandchildren Kerigan Bennett, Jonathon (Shaylee) Elsner, Keegan (Lauren) Elsner, E Bennett, Emma Elsner, Leila Elsner, Bella Parker, Ryker Bennett, Anna Parker, Gabriel Parker, Yene Parker, Lidian parker; 3 great grandchildren; his 2 sisters Missy Gilbert (Walter) and Penny Nuhiji and 1 brother Mike Bennett and many nieces and nephews.
Richard Is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ed Bennett, Tommy Bennett and sister Vickie Leonard.
A memorial service will be held in Richard’s honor on November 2, 2026 at 6pm at the DL Newcomer Funeral home in Brodhead, WI. The Visitation will start at 3pm until time of service.
