Duane L. Menzel, age 88, of Brodhead passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026 surrounded by his family at home. He was born on February 21, 1938 in Woodstock, IL, the son of Lester and Gladys (Smith) Menzel. On December 15, 1956 Duane was united in marriage to Evelyn Smith in Harvard, IL. Duane proudly served in the United States Army from 1956-1958.
Duane spent many years farming before going into a career in construction in 1988. He worked in construction for 20 years, retiring at the age of 70. He enjoyed collecting John Deere toys and antiques, woodworking, and fishing. Duane cherished the time he spent at the family cabin in Oxford. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Duane is survived by his children, Randy (Jody) Menzel of Brodhead, Paula (Steve) Schneider of Brodhead, Michael Menzel of Brodhead, Susan (Pete) Anderson of Appleton, and Jackie Covert of Brodhead; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Carol Davidson of Dodgeville, Phyllis Schauer of Union, IL, and Alvin (Carol) Menzel of Waterloo, IA; sister-in-law, Cindy Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; grandson, Dustin Proefrock; and brother, Lester Menzel Jr..
Private Funeral Services will be held. Everson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
