Wayne James Holub Sr., age 87, of Pecatonica, passed away Friday, April 10, 2026.

Born at home in Jackson Junction, Iowa, on Jan. 6, 1939, to Adolph and Dorothy Holub (Pierce). He married Sonja Kay Amundson in Chicago on April 15, 1959.

An avid fisherman, Wayne loved trips to visit family, his true pride and joy. Beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother, and friend, he will remain forever in our hearts.

He is survived by children, Laurie (Dan) Burkhart, Peggy (Leighton) Anderson, Wayne “Jamie” (Laura) Holub Jr., Dean Holub, Richard “Rick” Holub, and Michael (Jacqueline Fluaitt) Holub; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Connie (Gil) Wendel and Judy (late Russell) Westberg; sister-in-law, Mary Holub; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Sonja Kay Holub; granddaughters, Deidra and Ashley; brother, Dale Holub; and his parents.

Funeral services to be held Saturday, April 18, 2026, at noon at the Christenson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Avenue in Rockford, with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of services at noon. Interment at Pecatonica Cemetery. Fellowship reception to follow at 2:30 p.m. at St. Johns Lutheran Church, 1301 Jackson Street in Pecatonica.
