(Lombardian, Feb. 23) Last week, Chicago Wolves forward Evan Vierling visited second- and third-grade students at Pleasant Lane Elementary School in Lombard as part of the Wolves’ Read to Succeed initiative—a successful library-based program that has encouraged more than a million students to make reading a fundamental part of their days since 1996. Targeting students in kindergarten through eighth grade, the program serves as a reward and inspiration for students to excel at existing or new reading programs at school. Select Wolves players make appearances at area schools to participate, interact and read with students.
